We can't believe it's already October!!!  Is it just us or did September last about 2 hours???

Either way, we're glad to welcome cooler temperatures and everyone's favorite candy holiday!

We had our first field trip on Oct. 10th.  We visited and toured the Carter Center and Presidential Library.  It was a beautiful building full of very interesting facts and artifacts about the life and presidency of Jimmy Carter.  Many of our student's favorite part was getting to stand in an exact replica of the Oval Office!!!  Maybe we have some aspiring presidents among our 3rd graders! :)

With October comes conference week, Oct. 15-19.  We look forward to discussing your scholar's report card and classroom behavior with you.  Behind everything we do, we believe in being on the same team as our student's parents and helping support their efforts to help their scholar at home.

In celebration of Halloween, Clay ES will be allowing students and teachers to dress up as their favorite book character.  Nothing scary, no pretend weaponry, and school appropriate are the requirements for costumes. If you have any questions please feel free to Dojo your scholar's classroom teacher.  Our team will be getting in the festive mood with classroom rotations!  Each room will have a different craft/activity going on with a Halloween theme!  We can't wait!!!

Amid all the fun we will continue learning about multiplication and division in math.  Our reading and writing will shift more toward non-fiction/informational texts where we will identify main ideas and supporting details and use text features to help us find information.  In science we will investigate the ways in which water and wind shape the world around us, and how fossils are formed.  Finally, in social studies, we will learn all about the Native American culture and how they lived on our continent before the are of explorers.

We are very excited to start our 2nd quarter and hope you and your student's are too!  Until next month!
